Born into a musical family, Jason Becker lived and breathed guitar. A musical prodigy, he appeared to be destined for international stardom when he signed with David Lee Roth’s band in 1980 at the age of 20. That same year, he was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, a crippling illness with no treatment or cure, and was given 3–5 years to live. Now, more than 20 years since his diagnosis, Jason’s story is far from over. Using an eye communication system invented by his father, Jason is able to escape the confines of his own body and release the music that is trapped in his mind. Through home movies, photographs and concert footage, director Jesse Vile meticulously constructs an affectionate portrait of a gifted and giddy teenager from Richmond, California who realized his wildest dreams at an early age and is still creating and thriving due to the care and love of his devoted family and fans. Jason and his parents are expected to be in attendance at the screening.
